How To Create NFT Art With No Coding Experience

It has been difficult to avoid all the chatter about NFTs over the past year. Even notable names such as Eminem have gotten in on the trend, with the rapper reportedly paying around $462,000 for a Bored Ape style NFT that was modeled after himself. This buy-in from big names in entertainment has only fuelled speculation and excitement around the technology.

For those late to the game, NFT stands for Non-Fungible Token and is a type of blockchain technology that is designed to make a digital file unique. While any dollar or Bitcoin is ultimately identical to any other of its kind, an NFT is more like a unique trading card.

You can trade it for a card with a different player or even someone from a different sport and, while the card itself might be the same size and shape, it is ultimately a different object.

A common misconception is that the art itself is the NFT, but the NFT portion of it is similar to a receipt showing ownership of a specific copy of a piece of art. For example, some games have begun attaching NFTs to specific weapons or character skins to provide a more unique build for players.

Another example of a widely used NFT is the Socios fan token, which gives fans a digital influence over their favorite teams. Soccer clubs from Europe, such as Paris St Germain have adopted the technology and here in the US fan tokens have found their way into the NHL, MLS, and NFL. Like NFT art, these are commodities that can be bought and sold, but they offer tangible benefits to buyers, such as a vote on club matters. However, they tend to sell for a couple of dollars, whilst NFT art can sell for much, much more.

You might be tempted to think that these tokens are highly complex works of code that require a lot of skill and experience to create, but it is not only possible to create them without years of coding experience but also profitable if you know what you’re doing.

The first step is to create a piece of art, so you’ll need some experience with the digital art tool of your choice if you want your NFT to stand out. You can work in PhotoShop, Gimp, or, if you prefer to go the 3D art route, Blendr, but find a medium that works for and your style. The art can be as simple or complex as you like. The important thing is that you own it and can prove ownership of it for the next step.

You will likely need to create a MetaMask wallet, which is simply a file on your computer that allows you to control your digital finances. It is a common sight on most cryptocurrency sites and works similar to a bank account that you have direct control over.

Having this wallet will allow you to trade more easily on the various NFT marketplaces on the internet. The most popular is Ethereum, but it is worthwhile to do your own research and find the one that aligns most closely with your goals as a creator.

Once you have settled on a marketplace to sell your art on, you’ll need to submit it for approval. Once you’ve proven that the art is your own, it will be attached to the blockchain used on that marketplace as part of their listing process. From there, you just need to wait until your art catches the eye of the right buyer who is willing to purchase it from you.
